š§ Mental
If you are anything like me (you subscribed to this so Iām sure we have something in common), you enjoy personal development!
When I first started consuming personal development I had a ton of personal growth happen in my life right away. I was 18 years old when I picked up my first personal development book, Magic of Thinking Big by David Schwartz and it blew my mind š¤Æ. While others were partying, I was reading.
After several years I came to a point where I was consuming content just to consume. I felt stalled out in my growth but I still continued to read book after book and listen to positive, motivational content like it was my job. I was very discontent in my life. I was on this cycle of needing another book or motivational audio to get me moving forward. Itās what I thought I needed.
I was caught in the Motivational Porn trap and, over the years, Iāve noticed I wasnāt alone, which is why I wrote an entire article on escaping the trap HERE.
šŖ Physical
Sugar has always been a weakness of mine.
Not really candy, but baked goods.
But we all know sugar is soooooo bad for us!
In small quantities it is ok, but letās face itā¦most people eat and drink way more sugar than we are supposed to.
Matt Tillotson, a new friend I met from the Write of Passage course I took recently, wrote a great article on what he has done to eliminate a majority of the sugar out of his daily diet:
You can read that article here.
šš» Spiritual
The division in our world seems to be out of control. If you donāt agree with me then you must be evil, is the common sentiment. Weāre dehumanizing those with which we disagree.
The problem lies in the decline of religion. More specifically in the decline of Christianity. Without absolute morality, we base right and wrong off of our own feelings on morals.
Sin perpetrates our heart but Godās word gives us the right path to follow when our heart deceives us.
The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?
Jeremiah 17:9
Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered. Proverbs 28:26
Another new friend from Write of Passage eloquently grasps the reason for division in our world. And although sheās only in high school š¤Æ, she has a mature understanding of human nature. Check out her thoughts here.
I hope you enjoyed the first newsletter! Be sure to reach out to me and let me know what you thought!!
Blessings,
